Mood Board Monday #13 - learning to live again

This week, I decided to combine a lot of media. A LOT! I really wanted to play with color and layers and even brought back some older techniques I haven’t used in awhile. It’s so much fun to bring back something old with new abilities. Gotta say, I love how this one turned out!

It’s been a long while since I did any art journal play like this, but it was fun to lose myself in the color and textures of mixed media. Purposefully made her eyes different sizes to “ruin” it so I wouldn’t see the drawing as precious. Still have some work to do on it, but jammin out to good music with good friends and making art, well, can’t think of a better way to spend an evening. #journalgirl

Spreading out on the floor to let out some of the chaos in my head. I’ve had real conversations with strangers-turned-friends over the weekend about depression and how it effects our lives and how hard it is for loved ones to really relate to something they’ve never experienced. Just trying, listening, and sitting with us means so much. Sending random texts to check on us. Showing love in the smallest ways can make a difference. Thank you for being there. #journalgirl

I have been on a long mental health journey that started in January of this year that involves daily treatment that feels like being punched in the head, medication infusions that had me floating to the ceiling, friends who drove me way too early in the morning and stayed by my side or listened to me go on and on about it all, lots of questions, meds, and most of all - art of it all.
