One of my favorite things about summer is camp.
Camp is awesome. You get to make things, meet new people, go on adventures, & just have fun!
Last year, I was inspired to create a virtual summer camp full of art journal & mixed media projects and techniques. It was so successful and fun, I knew I had to do it again. Here are all the deets:
Summer camp runs in 2 sessions, or weeks. Every morning, you’ll get a message in your inbox (& posted in the private Ning group) that contains a video, field trip, or prompt to get you going. These should only take about 10-15 minutes to view, and the projects within shouldn’t take more than an hour to complete.
Camp starts July 14th. Session 1 runs July 14-20. There is an off week so you can catch up! Session 2 runs July 28-August 2.
I really wanted to make this something simple and fun. We’re all in online classes that are full of wonderful content & require a large time commitment. So I wanted to create a class that will inspire without taking a lot of time, but can be built upon to really get you trying new techniques and playing in your actual art journal.
Here’s what you can expect:
- 10-12 HD video tutorials, shot from overhead so you can see everything I’m doing!
- 2-4 HD video “diaries” about summer fun and art journaling
- PDF workbook to take things further
- A private group where you can share photos & chat in the forums with other campers
- Easy instructions for beginners & experienced artists alike
- Teacher access while the class runs live for questions & advice
- 2 live chats
- Info on supplies, tips, & tricks to help you make your best art journal pages!
This year, I’ll also be offering a paper pack bundle, including sticker badges, papers from my own stash, painted papers, & more! (There are only 25 available, so grab yours now!)
You can sign up for both sessions or choose which one you’d like to attend most!

Here are some kind words given to me by a camper from last year:
“And as a final note, while I feel a tad embarrassed to be coming back here after over a month of AJSC's end, I am also appreciative of the fact that I can return here and enjoy summer camp for one last time! This has been a wonderful experience and I want to thank you, Samie, for the incredible lessons you've taught us all here :) It was also really motivating to see the various results from each session, and the warmth in this community was great. I will totally jump on board for more summer camp next year if you choose to do so :)” - Carla
These sessions will be running LIVE, meaning I will be posting every morning and engaging you all in the forums. If you can participate while class is going on, you’re going to find yourself in the middle of 100+ reply introductions, tons of sharing — journal pages and supplies and more techniques. It really turns into an awesome community!
I’m pouring a LOT of my heart into this class, and went with what I’ve learned recently and how it’s such a simple magic, painting and creating art journal pages. But I hope you can use these short lessons as a springboard to bigger and better things.
You will need a high speed internet connection & account over on journalgirl.ning.com.
After you sign up, you will be given a small downloadable TXT file. This is to ensure that your payment went through. Please give me 24-36 hours to generate your invite to the group STARTING JULY 12. I don’t work on Sundays, so please keep that in mind when sending emails or signing up for class!
Class access is available for 2 years from the start date.
I'm also adding a bundle deal. You can grab last year's camp PLUS this year's live session for a great discounted price. Just select that one below and you can play in your art journal right now!
